young volunteersVolunteering has always formed the backbone of 4202 volunteer hours. The Box Youth Project, however over the past year the programme of work has taken on a new dimension! In 2012, 28 young people aged 17-21 have been involved in our Young Volunteers Project, and have developed new skills and increased confidence whilst making a difference within their own community.

Over the summer holidays 15 young people were involved in refurbishing the old Caretakers house at arringdon Community Sports College and are in the process of setting up the building as a community recycling project in partnership with the school.

  • 7 young people regularly support the delivery of our junior youth work and school holiday activity rogrammes
  • 4 young people have been trained as Community Health Champions and have been actively involved in delivering peer education workshops in schools and youth clubs
  • 20 young volunteers have been involved in collecting, sorting, and packing donations that have been eceived for Project Gambia.

Our volunteers have also assisted with the planning and delivery of other events throughout the year including a Valentines Disco, a summer sports day, community fun days, coee mornings etc. They have also supported events and initiatives in the wider community that have been organised by Gentoo and residents groups, in addition to general maintainance work at The Box Youth Project .
